Cohesion measures how united the pirate community is. If it reaches zero, the game is lost.

What changes Cohesion

Decisions in events and Pirate Satisfaction can raise or lower it. Firing a non-Swabbie Crew member also costs Cohesion, so avoid treating Crew as a disposable input.

Increase capacity

Each Principle offers a banner that increases Cohesion capacity: Classy, Bloody, Salty, or Fancy. Other Principle buildings can create specific ways to gain Cohesion, including the Gibbet and Quartermaster.

Use the meter as a boundary

There is no single ideal number for every haven. Watch the direction of change and leave room before a decision that can reduce Cohesion.

If pirate upkeep is the likely cause, check Crew needs. If the issue is strategic progression, compare the capacity and recovery tools in Principles.
